Following 10 years of leadership after founding Future Living Hertford in 2013, I am planning to retire from my position as Chief Executive Officer, to enjoy more time with my family.

I have felt humbled and proud to lead such an amazing organisation and team through a time of growth and development which has continued, despite all odds, during the most difficult of times in the pandemic.

Future Living is a thriving charity with a great reputation for delivering high quality support for vulnerable people and their families who have survived domestic abuse. We work as one team pulling together to deliver some amazing projects and programmes.  The team works with passion and diligence, ensuring we are safe and compliant with legislation, with a strong foundation of governance in place.

I have really enjoyed working within the charity sector, influencing the direction of domestic abuse support to benefit a growing number of people who are vulnerable through their experiences. Future Living is well positioned to continue to support our clients to achieve the best possible outcomes for themselves and their families with the continued support of a really strong board.

My time spent with clients will always remain a special part of my life, feeling trusted with their life stories and given an opportunity to support them through some of the most difficult times in their lives.

A word from our Fergus McMullen our previous Chair:

To say that the last nine years have been difficult for Sandra Conte and her wonderful

team would be an understatement. They have had to deal with a tenfold increase in the numbers of people experiencing

Domestic Abuse, that was heightened by the Covid Lockdowns.

They have done so without missing a beat and have achieved miracles.

Sandra and Salvatore, her husband, will both be missed because of their passion and hard work for the charity, we will be starting the process of finding a new CEO from next week. and please apply to CEO@futurelivinghertford.co.uk if you are interested.  We are optimistic that our new CEO will continue this vital work and take the charity to new heights.

Suzy Harvey, current Chair of the charity:

Although obviously sad that Sandra is retiring, and thank her for her work during her time as CEO, the board feels that this is an exciting time to develop Future Living to support our clients through difficult times in their lives. It gives an amazing opportunity for a new CEO to drive a well established charity which provides an essential service to the community.

We are looking forward to celebrating our 10-year Anniversary on 12th June this year, from the Charity’s very humble beginnings at the St. Andrews Centre in Hertford, to Vale House, which is now synonymous with domestic abuse support.  I truly believe Future Living will continue to go from strength to strength. I will enjoy watching from the side the future developments and expansion of services by the organisation.  I will remain a lifelong supporter of Future Living and domestic abuse support services. I wish them every success in the future.
