Monica Programme

Our support services

A unique domestic abuse programme for women supported by caring counselling professionals.

The Monica Programme is the name given to the ongoing support group therapy offered at Future Living Hertford.

We are very proud that the Monica Programme has now become accredited by the University of Hertfordshire.

It is a female only, safe environment, for survivors of current or historical abuse and assault.

This is a small group of women who support each other and embark upon a full programme of psycho-education to help heal them, together with workshops and coping strategies.

About the course

The Monica Programme is a solution-focused CBT course based on empowering ladies who have experienced domestic abuse either as a child and/or an adult.

The course covers twelve modules that are designed to equip students in understanding the terminology of domestic abuse, identifying types of domestic abuse and to support those who have had traumatic experiences.

It also addresses the impact on children living in an abusive household and the damage to their development over time, as well as the potential impact it may have in their adult lives, particularly on mental wellbeing.

Course places are limited and very popular so early registration is recommended.

"The group has been very special - a lovely group who were very supportive, kind and funny too. Laughs and a few tears but I always felt safe."
