About us

Our story

"I was inspired to start the charity to offer a range of different services in Hertford and gave clients a choice in their type of recovery."

Sandra Conte, Founder – Future Living Hertford

Future Living Hertford began in 2014 in a church hall, running just two mornings a week with a simple but powerful aim: to give survivors genuine choice in how they recover.

From those early days, we have grown into a trusted, trauma-informed charity supporting adults, children and young people affected by domestic abuse across Hertfordshire.

Our specialist team delivers therapeutic counselling, survivor-led support and preventative programmes – helping people not only through crisis, but through long-term recovery, so they can heal, rebuild their lives and regain their voice.

As the needs of survivors and families have become more complex, so too have our services. We have evolved to provide a more holistic, person-centred pathway to recovery – shaped by lived experience and grounded in our commitment to breaking the cycle of abuse.

A significant milestone in our journey came in 2021 with the opening of our dedicated services for children. This marked a major step forward in our commitment to supporting the next generation and creating safer, healthier futures for families in our community.

Today, our work continues to grow, guided by the same belief we started with: that every survivor deserves choice, compassion and the opportunity to recover, rebuild and rise beyond trauma.

What we do has an influence in supporting our clients as well as on the wider community

I sit here in beauty surrounded by flowers and a warm summer’s breeze. Peaceful and rested in body and mind, looking into the future leaving the chaos behind. Rolling hills go for miles, a canny retreat. This is a feeling that will be hard to beat.
