Why we created the book

We are thrilled to share that the story of Future Living has been made into a book!

Back in November, we held a fairy-tale and White Ribbon event at Vale House. The event was held as part of 16 Days Of Activism.

The White Ribbon campaign is a global movement which sees men and boys working to end male violence against women and girls. It looks at preventative work such as ending violence before it starts. The team gladly welcomed our new Youth Ambassador for the campaign, who spoke passionately about the cause. 

New projects

We wanted to use our story to highlight the work we do at Future Living. Over time, It is hoped we can expand by starting new projects such as the reopening of our Bakery. We are very excited about this project and hope to open our doors on 8th March, which is International Women’s Day.

It is hoped the Bakery will be a safe space. A space where our clients can relax and maybe even forge new friendships. Given that the charity works with a broad range of clients, we will also be offering community projects as well as sessions such as bread making for our clients.

About the story

The book starts from the very beginning of the charity. It tells the story of Sandra’s vision and how through years of hard work and dedication, it became a reality! 

That reality was made all the more apparent when one of our existing clients who herself completed The Monica Programme, bravely shared her story with our guests. The speech entitled ‘It happened to me’ features at the end of our book.

The colourful images used to bring the story to life were created by a very talented young client of our service. We were thrilled with the end result and are thankful to all those who helped bring the book together.
