Expanding our services, widening our reach

It’s been a quieter time for Future Living over the past month. As our summer programmes drew to a close, the team took a much needed break to recoup after a very busy period. We have returned ready and raring to go, full of excitement for what lies ahead over the coming months.

We have two brand new programmes starting, which we will be delivering pilot versions of from September. Brighter Days is a 3 week programme which focuses on parenting after domestic abuse. The programme, which has been developed by Future Living, looks at different techniques which can be implemented to help rebuild the relationship between the child and parent and how to co- or parallel parent following the effects of an abusive relationship. Brighter Days is intended to be an informative and educational aid, free from judgement within  a supportive environment, with others who can relate.

Another addition to our service list is Moments. This 8 week programme has been written by Alison, who is a now qualified counsellor and completed her placement with us.  The empowering resilience programme is designed to help individuals cultivate the skills necessary to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and grace.

Resilience – the ability to bounce back from adversity, is at the heart of this course, promoting emotional regulation and the understanding of how our emotions influence our responses to stress. Participants will explore the dynamics of both negative and positive mindsets, learning to shift their perspectives to foster a more optimistic outlook.

The programme emphasises the importance of building stronger relationships, providing tools to enhance communication and connection with others. This programme will be starting in September, with a second programme planned for November.

We are delighted to be able to introduce these new programmes, which we hope will add even more support for our clients.

For the first time, we will be running a Monica Programme in St Albans. As a charity, We recognised the need for this 12 week programme within Hertfordshire so wanted to reach more survivors. We thought what better way to do this than by bringing it closer to them. If we can support more people within the community, we are getting ever closer to our mission, putting an end to domestic abuse. We aim to do this through education, support and communities of strong and empowering individuals who are empowered to live a life they deserve.

Alongside these new offerings we will continue to deliver Monica and Wise Guys from our Hertford Hub, as well as affordable counselling services for adults and children.

We will welcome over 70 new clients to Future Living over the next few months and we are glad to be able to offer them the support they need to recover and rebuild their lives, but this brings added costs to the charity.  If you are able to support our work, please do donate. Every penny helps a survivor of domestic abuse to rebuild their lives.
