Watching our clients grow

Watching our clients grow

As a charity, we are privileged to work with some very inspirational individuals, none more so than our clients. The support we provide can be life changing, but Future Living is only a very small seed in the clients journey of growth, strength and hope for a better future.

The first step

When clients first get in touch with us, understandably they are often a shadow of their former self. They can struggle to see a way forward and feel alone and lost. Our services provide a stepping stone towards a  brighter future, something we believe that everyone is worthy of. But it takes a lot of hard work and courage to take that first step. Our clients put trust in our team, processing difficult emotions and facing challenges that come as part of the process head on with our support.

Supporting each other

The team is always amazed at the strength and determination we see everyday. What’s even more amazing is the bond and support our clients get from each other, particularly in our Monica and Wise Guys programmes. The 12 week programmes are for survivors of domestic abuse. Those who attend connect through their shared experiences. With the guidance and education offered throughout the 12 weeks, begin to feel empowered once again and ready to take back control of their life. They lean on each other, arranging meet ups and supportive messaging groups outside of the programme, forming strong bonds which are unique and relatable.

Transforming Lives

Watching our clients transform each week is magical, they are filled with hope once again and with this new found hope comes determination to make a change and to help others. Some of our clients chose to use their experiences of domestic abuse for education and prevention. Two of our clients are part of the Lived Experience Police Training we run at Vale House for Hertfordshire Police. As part of the training our clients share their stories, offering insight into what it can be like being in a relationship which is abusive and how police involvement can help the victim.

Fundraising

So far this year, we’ve received an overwhelming amount of support from clients who have chosen to fundraise for us, taking part in quiz nights, running marathons and even taking to the skies for a skydive! To see the clients come full circle and find the strength to help others makes the work we do all the more worthwhile. They are living proof that with the right support, anything is possible and we stand with them every step of the way.
